CCA-RS
Community Advisory Committee
The Community Advisory Committee (CCA-RS), created in 2000, is a committee made up of volunteers. Its members are people from the community, regardless of their field of activity. Participants in the research itself may also be included, and they should be informed of the committee's existence and the option to become members. It is also an advisory and monitoring committee for clinical research, aiming to facilitate dialogue between the community and researchers.
CCA-RS aims to embody the following basic values that affirm its identity:
Closer ties between researchers and the community;
Participatory monitoring of research development;
Ethics that prioritize the confidentiality and safety of the research participant;
Guaranteeing participants access to information regarding any changes in the course of the research development;
Broad and continuous promotion of educational processes within the communities and populations studied;
Commitment to ensuring the population's access to strategic health supplies and services;
Ethics and transparency.
​Currently, the CCA-RS is composed of eight members with diverse backgrounds and representation on the Municipal Health Council, namely:
NGO/AIDS Forum
The Porto Alegre NGO/AIDS Forum was created in 1993 with the mission of connecting non-governmental organizations to combat HIV/AIDS in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul. Through the exchange of experiences, the forum seeks to promote social inclusion, combat stigma and discrimination, and guarantee rights to health and prevention. Focusing on vulnerable populations, the Forum contributes to the development of public policies, support for patients, and the dissemination of information on prevention and treatment.
Black Women's Cultural Association
The Black Women's Cultural Association (ACMUNEGRO) was created in 1988 with the purpose of promoting the fight against racism and discrimination, as well as valuing the culture and identity of Black women. The organization works to defend the rights of Black women, offering psychosocial, cultural, and educational support, and working towards equal opportunities. Over the years, it has become a space for resistance, empowerment, and the promotion of public policies for the Black population.
4Black Movement
The 4Black Movement was founded in 2017 with the goal of uniting and strengthening the Black community, promoting the fight against racism and racial inequality. Focused on Black youth, the movement seeks visibility, recognition, and empowerment through cultural, political, and social actions. 4Black works to promote rights, identity, and representation, serving as an important space for resistance, with a focus on transforming the reality of Black people, especially in marginalized communities and in academic and professional spaces.
Metropolitan Forum on Tuberculosis/AIDS
The Porto Alegre Metropolitan Tuberculosis/AIDS Forum was created in 1999 with the purpose of coordinating actions to combat and prevent tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS in the Porto Alegre metropolitan region. The forum brings together representatives from various governmental and non-governmental entities to discuss and implement public health policies, promote the integration of services, and ensure better conditions for diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for affected populations.
National Network of Movements and Practices of Popular Education in Health
The National Network of Movements and Practices of Popular Education in Health (ANMEPS) was created in 2003 with the objective of integrating and strengthening popular health education initiatives in Brazil. The network seeks to promote the active participation of the community in the construction of public health policies, valuing popular knowledge and alternative practices. ANMEPS has consolidated itself as a space for resistance, exchange of experiences, and defense of the right to health for all.
National Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS
The National Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (RNP+ Brazil) was founded in 1993 with the goal of promoting the defense of the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS in Brazil. The organization works to combat stigma and discrimination, as well as to expand access to treatment and information. RNP+ Brazil has been fundamental in building inclusive public policies, empowering the affected population, and promoting their health and well-being.
National Association of Transvestites and Transsexuals
The National Association of Transvestites and Transsexuals (ANTRA) was founded in 2004 with the goal of fighting for the civil and human rights of transgender people in Brazil. The organization seeks to combat transphobia, promote social inclusion and full citizenship, and work towards specific public policies for transvestites and transsexuals. ANTRA has been a space of resistance and visibility, acting in defense of rights such as health, education, employment, and security for the trans population.
